CLEVELAND — More than 500 people participated in the Cleveland Ohio Team Hope Walk at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Sunday.

The fundraising event brought together the community to support the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.

Huntington's disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the eventual breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person's physical and mental abilities during their prime working years. The disease has no cure.

Proceeds from the Cleveland Ohio Team Hope Walk go to Huntington’s Disease Society of America, which provides community services, education, advocacy and research for those affected by Huntington’s disease.

The event raised $30,386 in donations.
